Fully armed Police men are currently firing live bullets to disperse agitating youths on the Newdormaa, Sunyani high way as protestors have resumed their fortnight demonstration.
Our reporter Akromah Deefour who is currently at the scene says, about seven police patrol vehicles stormed the area in the early hours of Wednesday firing warning shots to disperse the youth who were still on the street to demand from authorities to get the contractor back on site.
He added, about four of the protestors have sustained various degrees of gunshot injuries.
The residents yesterday resisted vehicular traffic flow after a speeding car knocked down one Karihm who is receiving treatment at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital.
This triggered angry youth in the area who defied heavy rains into an all night demonstration demanding the road to be fixed. Speaking to an eyewitness, our reporter said, the police after storming the area this morning arrested some of the youth whom they suspected were leaders of the ongoing protest.
The arrest of the youths angered the residents to also apprehend one of the police personnel locking him up in a shop demanding the release of their colleagues. After the police realization of the caging of their colleague also returned and fired at the crowed.
The development has currently halted vehicular movement and business activities in the area as residents run for their lives
