B/A Hospitals seeks refuge at private morgues after MOWAG’s strike

The Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani has sought refuge at private mortuaries following the nationwide strike action by members of the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) to press home their demands for better working conditions.

Mr. Adams Umar Mengu, deputy administrator of the regional hospital disclosed in an interview during Ark FM’s Ogya Kasebo, that this was part of measures adopted by  authorities at the hospital to salvage the situation.

He noted that the action by the MOWAG was very unfortunate as the authorities have had to attend to clients themselves.

The MOWAG on Tuesday embarked on the nationwide indefinite strike action to press home their demands for better working conditions.

They said their action was a last resort to compel the Ministry of Health to among others, review their salaries and working conditions as they had threatened three months ago to embark on the strike action.
