The Brong Ahafo Regional (BAR) directorate of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has expressed its determination to develop the Kunsu Slave Market in Kintampo North Municipality to help attract investors into the region.
Mr. Joseph Appiagyei, regional manager, explained in an interview with Ark News that the historical background of the slave market could help accelerate the development of the region and the country.
The Kunsu slave market was a hideout for women and children during wars in the past and was later turned into a major slave trade center.
Mr Appiagyei stressed it was for his reason that the authority had decided to develop the ancient market to be at par with other sites in the region.
The regional manager called on the Kintampo North Municipal Assembly and traditional authorities in the area to collaborate with the authority to develop the centre to attain its appreciable status as a tourist site.
