Sunyani East Rotary club to commission 22 boreholes, 41 Micro-flush toilets

The Rotary Club of Sunyani East with a rotary Foundation Global Grant and support from its partners from America is set to commission about twenty two boreholes in some communities in the Brong Ahafo region.

The projects situated in the Sunyani Municipality, Sunyani West and the Tain district respectively according to the foundation are to help provide potable drinking water to less deprived communities as their cooperate social responsibility demands.

Funded by 3 separate Rotary Foundation global grants, Kootokrom, Boreso, Beyeden, Daadom, Nkrankese, Kurasua and Yeboahkrom all communities under the Sunyani Municipal Assembly, Botenso, Anabakrom, Israel Nkwanta, Odumase Kookoano, Kantro No. 3, and Chiraa Senior High School also under the Sunyani West Assembly will enjoy a borehole each.

Communities under the Tain District which will also see commissioning of such projects are Nkrankrom, Soronoase, and other communities. Speaking to the President elect and director of service project for Sunyani East Rotary Foundation Mr. Eric Adu Gyamfi he said, after tour to identify communities with deplorable water situations among the listed, it was necessary supporting the communities with the project.

The clean water and sanitation project Mr. Adu Gyamfi also told Ark News include forty one Micro-flush toilets in forty one households in Fiapre in the Sunyani west district and some communities in the Tain District. Again, Eric revealed a second rotary project dubbed ‘’ Blood Fridges Project’’ which is focused on providing fridges for some selected health facilities for storage of drugs and other medical equipments amounting to USD, 100,500.00.

In the ‘’Blood Fridges Projects’’, Holy Family Hospital, Berekum, Goaso Municipal Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Hwidiem will receive incubators and other hospital equipments. Other hospitals in the Brong Ahafo region to benefit from the project include, Kintampo Municipal Hospital, Kwame Danso District Hospital and Wenchi Methodist Hospital will not be left out of the project, he added.
