Public not ‘shouting’ our names anymore- Assembly Member worried

Assembly Member for Kaamu Electoral Area in the Wenchi Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region, Hon. Joseph Nkrumah has noted with dissatisfaction the public’s refusal to sing praises to their names anymore at gatherings as it used to be some years back.

The development he opined is contributed by their ineffectiveness to fulfill campaign promises as elected Assembly members. Commenting on their futility as such, Hon. Joseph Nkrumah told Ark News successive governments has refused to regard their presence and duties in the assembly structure ‘’ we are only in various assemblies to assume the portfolio and not to compliment our constitutional mandate’’ he stressed.

According got him, the situation is retarding development and growth in the local governance structure calling on stakeholders consideration and attention.

The Hon. Assembly Member, Joseph Nkrumah’s concern he believes could be addressed by a proposed 5% Assembly Members common fund (AMCF), an application the Presiding Member for Sunyani West District Assembly (SWDA) and Assembly Member for Kwatre Electoral Area, Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi is advocating for.

Leader of the SWDA has begun calls for an allocated 5% Assembly Members common fund to reduce pressure on the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) and the Members of Parliament (MP’s) Common Fund.

This Hon. Assembly Member for Kaamu, Joseph Nkrumah believes the proposal if adopted and approved by all needed quarters will help various Assembly members to empower their local authority to solve petty challenges facing electoral areas in the country without depending on various MMDA’s and Members of Parliament for support.
