Introduction and placement of personnel from the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), the Brong Ahafo Regional Directorate of the Rent Control Department (RCD) believes has improved on the departments eagerness to bridge the perceived Landlord- Tenant gab in the region.
A total of fifty personnel, the regional Manager Mr. Ishmael Essien revealed were dispatched to his outfit helping improve education on proper Landlord and tenant relations which over the period the directorate has been battling with.
Speaking on Ark in the Morning, Mr. Ishmael noted ‘’ the intervention has helped intensify education on how prospective tenants should rent and where to channel their grievances should there be the need’’.
According to him, the department after receiving the personnel has since allocated them to various municipalities and districts in the region to monitor and report rent challenges, an exercise the department believes has been helping them in their discharge of duties.
Touching on rent agreement, Mr. Ishmael Essien stressed the department by law has a standardized format for rent agreement hence calling on all landlords to desist from issuing their own rent agreement forms but rather, fall on the rent control department.
“There is a standard way of doing a tenancy agreement and as such, we expect all landlords to work hand in hand with the rent control department in issuing them” he said.
The department is however urging all tenants to report landlords who refuse to issue a standardized agreement forms to them to the rent control department for legal sanctions.
