Contempt case against B/A NPP chair, 5 others adjourned

A contempt case against the Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party NPP, Mr. Thomas Adu Appiah and Five others has been adjourned to 11th March 2019, months after failing to appear before the Sunayni High Court 3.

Presided over by Justice Patrick Baye, the court yesterday granted the defendants a GHC20, 000 bail each after a hearing where they pleaded not guilty of the charge.

Mr. Thomas Adu Appiah

Chairman Thoma as referred to, Ark News reported to have been arrested by police officers at the court in the wee hours of Wednesday, 6th February 2019, after bailiff announced his presence at the court premises. Mr. Adu Appiah, the court told our reporter Isaac Asuamah has refused to appear before it on all hearing dates served him by bailiff after a contempt case was filed against him and five others of the party.

Some aggrieved members of the party in Berekum West district last year placed an injunction on the regional elections restraining them form organizing the exercise by what they described as unfair treatment.

However, the said injunction was defied which saw the election of the current regional executives of the party, consequently citing the regional chair and five other members of the party for contempt.
