Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the Ghana Bar Association, Alfred Tuah Yeboah has indicated that he will contest for Member of Parliament (MP) in the Sunyani East Constituency.
The private legal practitioner’s declaration confirms earlier rumours to that effect.
According to him,his decision to run for political office is in response to numerous calls by people in the constituency.
Speaking in an interview on Ark in the Morning on Monday January 7,the ardent NPP supporter told host Kwabena Obeng Akrofi that he is qualified to be a Member of Parliament and has developed interest over the years.
He said those constituents who are calling on him to run as MP have the confidence that he can deliver.
He is however not sure when to contest but said he will wait until he sees that he has the support of the grassroot members of the party in the constituency.
“I am just waiting for the the grassroots interest. If it comes as I’m expecting, I will declare my intention in public”.
The interest will come from me but if those constituents don’t have interest in me,it will not work, that’s why I’m still waiting for more grassroots members,” he told Kwabena Obeng Akrofi.
Speaking on the observance if the maiden Constitution Day,Alfred Tuah Yeboah called on Ghanaians to respect the constitution and help it to work to shape our lives.
“One can go to court if he finds something wrong or doesn’t understand anything about the constitution”,he added.
” Rule of law is the foundation of democracy but one should know that his views or speeches will not step on someone’s rights”,he noted.
He urged government in power and opposition parties to live by the constitution and allow it to work and shape our lives.
