Former president John Dramani Mahama has promised to put unity on top of his agenda if he emerges as flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Addressing NDC delegates in the Akuapem North district, as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Mr Mahama said the NDC needs unity and hard work to win the 2020 election.
He blamed the party’s loss of many parliamentary seats in the 2016 elections on disunity and appealed to the supporters to unite and bring the party back to power.
The former president, however, expressed confidence that the NDC will defeat the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 elections.
“By the grace of God, I believe victory will be ours. The NPP is asking what percentage of the vote I got and the number of people following me, so, we must vote and vote well. We are winning power from them in 2020,” Mr Mahama stated.
“My last message”, he said, “Is about unity and togetherness. If we stay united, victory will be ours, and, so, let’s remain united”.
Mr Mahama is contesting the slot with five others.
