Marouane Fellaini’s afro is gone.
The Manchester United midfielder has sported a bushy mop for the entirety of his United career but he took to social media on Wednesday afternoon to inform his followers of his new look.
“New year, new look #birthdaytomorrow,” Fellaini wrote alongside a picture of his new barnet.
Fellaini divides opinion with United’s fans, with some seeing him as a useful option to have in the squad and others deeming him, well, useless.
Jose Mourinho is in the first category and he bemoaned his lack of midfield options in the Manchester derby that meant he had to start Fellaini at the Etihad rather than bring him off the bench to cause havoc in the closing stages.
“He was not ready to play for 90 minutes. I can imagine when it was 2-1 to bring a fresh Fellaini, I think they would be in big, big trouble,” Mourinho said.
Fellaini’s haircut was a huge topic of discussion on Wednesday and a number of his teammates weighed in with their opinion on the new trim.
