The FIFA Normalization Committee (NC) could move their work station from Citizen Kofi House to the secretariat of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), next week.
GhanaCrusader.com can confirm the secretariat is available for staff to operate from and sources within the NC and staff revealed that the offices will be opened for work from next week after contractors who were engaged to, paint, weed and clean the association wrapped up and packed out their equipment yesterday.
It is unclear the definite date the secretariat will start running for the first time since June 7, 2018, but what its definite is that, the office is available for use.
GhanaCrusader.com reported the office was bushy, prompting the normalization committee to hunt for an entity to give it a facelift for put to use.
Last week, we updated audience that the office was undergoing renovation by McDan Construction and Painting Ltd, the company contracted by the Normalization Committee to paint the building to give it a refit.
However, the weeding of the bush and cleaning was yet to be attended to. A visit to the secretariat by our team found that the cleaning is done and our checks at the office of the NC revealed that staff will move into the building next week.
Our team also found that the tattered billboards, white and blue on the building with the inscriptions “Ghana Football Association (Headquarters – Accra) or Association de Football Du Ghana (Siége Sociale – Accra) and Do you know that the football industry is a business. Don’t just hang around, upgrade yourself…” have been removed.
Our sources revealed that, Alex Asante, Deputy General Secretary in charge of competitions asked McDan Construction and Painting Ltd to remove the two billboards. Reasons given were that, the billboards will be replaced with new ones per our checks.
When the new ones will be fixed on the walls is unknown.
The GFA office was termed a “crime scene” by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service following a two years investigations into corruption and match-fixing in Ghana football by Anas Aremeyaw Anas for four months.
FIFA set up a normalization committee on September 13, 2018 and the secretariat was handed over to the Normalization Committee to enable them run the daily affairs of the association as mandated by FIFA instead of Citizen Kofi House.
Upon receipt of the secretariat, President of the Normalization Committee,Dr. Kofi Amoah tasked the staff headed by Alex Asante to immediately put the office in good shape for use.
Work is complete and staff are expected to start using the place from next week.
