The Brong Ahafo regional police command has released a statement cautioning the general public against what they call ‘hoax gangs’.
According to the police command it has come to their notice that some people have taken delight in spreading cooked stories which creates fear and panic within the region.
The police command is therefore warning the general public to desist from such act because they will deal accordingly with persons who are caught in such acts.
Also the police called on parent to be alert on fraudsters who call them on their phones to tell them their wards that were sent to schools have been involved in an accident or taking ill and therefore demanding monies to take them to the hospital.
The Brong Ahafo Police command stressed that, many parent have suffered this kind of fraud which they are warning the general public especially parent to be extra careful on people they give their numbers to.
The Public Relations Officer for the Brong Ahafo police, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong says fraudsters come in different forms so everyone should be on high alert.
He said the police have put in place measures to protect the citizenry from the hands of the hooligans.
