The 2012 and 2016 independent presidential candidate, Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah has applauded the president of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing an opposition member to occupy the office of the special prosecutor.
To him, the move was a strong and bold one which is a signal to all Ghanaians that he is ready to fight corruption. He said this in an interview with Kwabena Obeng Akrofi on Ark in the Morning when commenting on the appointment of the former attorney general of the erstwhile late Mills administration Mr. Martin Alamisi Amidu as the state first special prosecutor.
Mr. Osei stressed that, the president with the appointment has shown that he is a listening government. He added that Martin Amidu years back portrayed his commitment in the fight against corruption therefore he fit for the position.
He emphasized that Mr. Amidu though a politician but believes he is law abiding and can do the job offered to him. He said the appointees of the current government will be much careful once the special prosecutor is ready to take off his mandate.
