Statistics available to Ark News indicates that the Brong Ahafo Region from January 2017 to October 2017 recorded a twenty (20%) percentage decrease in the total fire cases as against the same period in 2016. The region recorded a total of three hundred and thirty eight (338) fire outbreaks in 2017 whiles’ 2016 recorded five hundred and seventy two (572) outbreaks adding that five people also perished in fire disasters.
Brong Ahafo Regional Commander for Ghana National Fire Service, James Owusu Agyei in an interview with ARKNEWS cautioned the general public on handling of fire since the dry season is not yet over.
He revealed that the law to deal with domestic fires have been strengthened therefore people must be very careful in order not to fall victim. Speaking with Ark Midday News, the Regional Fire Commander advised hunters to find proper way of hunting animals without using fire since it can cause bush fire.
