President for the National House of Chiefs Togbe Afede XIV has charged chiefs in the country to work hard to change the negative perception people have about them.
According to the Paramount Chief of Asogli Traditional Council, people for many reasons has describe the Chieftaincy institution as primitive because they are seen as persons who sell community lands for personal gains.
Speaking during the first edition of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs’ meeting, Togbe Afede XIV charged the chiefs to fight for the welfare of the people since that is their responsibility and core mandate.
The President for the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese expressed worry over the indiscriminate cutting down of tress in the region. According to the Omanhene of Yeji Traditional Area, this bad act is the cause of the shortage of water recently in the region. He also attributed the cutting down of tress to the charcoal makers and others who want money for their personal gains.
The Brong Ahafo Regional minister, Lawyer Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh, who was at the meeting called on the chiefs to help resolve chieftaincy disputes since it is pulling down development of the region.
